Cooking for Students
Splat Cooking Silverstone offers a cooking programme specifically designed to teach youngsters the skills and knowledge to cook nutritious, economical and interesting meals for themselves. Dishes cooked are both sweet and savoury and lessons will include tips on budgeting and shopping.
The programme covers basic cooking skills and focuses on the following categories:
- Basic food safety and hygiene
- Breads
- Pastry
- Pasta
- Soups and Sauces
- Eggs and vegetables
- Rice and potatoes
In all cases students are provided with everything required, including ingredients, equipment and containers to take food home in.
The programme can be adapted to suit individual suit individual needs and can be delivered at our premises in Towcester Road in Silverstone, or at your home, or a more convenient venue.
A one-off workshop looking at the foods from a number of countries around the world. Students look at herbs and spices, taste a range of typical breads and accompaniments and make their own pasta. Foods such as Naan and Dhal, Lavash and Mutabal, pesto and pasta and aubergine dip are included, as well as sticky Thai rice. This workshop covers the requirements for students to get their World Guiding Badge. All ingredients, equipment and containers are provided.
Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Splat Cooking Silverstone offers a range of cooking courses specifically designed to fulfil the Life Skills criteria of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Themed programmes comprise 12 hours of tuition spread over three months, or students have the option of attending weekly 90 minutes classes for as long as they wish. Students wishing to complete more than one DofE badge can attend programmes or classes for the required number of hours over the relevant time period.
The themed programmes cover basic cooking skills and each focuses on a specific category of foods:
- Basic food safety and hygiene
- Breads
- Pastry
- Pasta
- Soups and Sauces
- Eggs and vegetables
- Rice and potatoes
In addition to the above there are workshops covering the following topics that can be bolted on to the above to fulfil additional DofE requirements.
- Thai cooking
- Chinese cooking
- Italian cooking
- French cooking
Weekly classes are held on a Saturday morning (term time only) from 10.30am to 12pm and students alternate between sweet and savoury foods each week.

This is the fifth year that this lively market town has held it’s own food fayre where local producers and manufacturers get to showcase their wares. Splat will be holding a pasta demonstration and workshop, so come along on the day and participate.
Splat in Silverstone are teaming up with equine-based learning group Lil Mustangs to deliver an even more comprehensive hand’s on experience to children in the area. Bespoke Cooking Classes
Classes are specially developed for yourself, or for a group of friends and take place in your own kitchen. Classes can be a two-hour session with a starter and main, or main and dessert made, a three-hour session with starter, main and dessert made, or even longer, depending on requirements. All utensils, ingredients and packaging are provided.
A workshop aimed at people who are looking to gain a bit of confidence in the kitchen while still considering cost and nutrition. It can run either as a one-off workshop, or as a series of lessons. It includes basic and intermediate cooking skills and covers topics such as breads, pastries, cakes, soups and sauces. A 2-hour sessions costs £45.
Saturday Cooking Club in Towcester
Splat Cooking Silverstone are very excited to announce that we’ll be starting a children’s cooking club in Towcester starting Saturday 8 January. This club will take place every Saturday during term time from 10.30am to 12pm.
You will cook some delicious food and will have the opportunity to explore the origins of ingredients and develop an interest in and an understanding of food. You will cook tasty and nutritious dishes, both savoury and sweet. All equipment, ingredients, aprons and suitable containers for you to take your goodies home in are provided, together with a recipe card.
Cookery Leaders hold enhanced CRBs and CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety. Splat Cooking have extensive experience of cooking with children and are passionate about encouraging children and grown ups to learn about food, where it comes from and how to cook it.

Children’s Cooking Parties
The ultimate Cooking Party. We bring all the ingredients, utensils and party kit, we entertain the children and help them make their own lunch or tea, you sit back with a nice glass of wine or cup of tea and watch the children have a great time learning about food, ingredients and cooking techniques. All you need to provide is the venue, the children, drinks for the children and a birthday cake if the children aren’t making it at the party. POA.
